James chapter 2
As our fellowship celebrates it’s 4th anniversary of “lighting a fire in Chicago,” as the bulletin you received this morning says, we will be looking at one of the most “flammable” subjects in religion: faith and deeds.

- James 2:14 You’re not saved by works. But you’re not saved without them either.
- James 2:17, 26 Faith without action is dead. What part of that is hard to understand?
- James 2:19 Demons believe there is one God. Of course, they are not saved.
- James 2:23 Faith and our actions make us God’s friend, like Abraham.
- Dead faith, without deeds won’t help you or anyone else. It won’t even get you through this life in a good way.

James Series: Spiritual Maturity, part 2 – Outline

As we celebrate the Fourth of July, let us remember that all men and women are created equal and need to be loved equally.

- James 2:1-12 Because we love God, we vow to treat people differently. It’s not “about me” anymore. Favoritism: take this analogy deeper than just rich and poor.
- Leviticus 19:15 Judge fairly. How? Love your neighbor as yourself. Anyone, rich or poor, can slander God’s Word; or glorify it.
- 1 Samuel 16:7 How do you make a right judgement? Look at the heart, like god does.
1) It’s not who you are- it’s whose you are.
2) It’s not what you have, it’s what you give.
3) It’s not where you are from, it’s where you are going.

Galatians 6:7-10 Love invests a Lot.
Acts 20:22 Love Overcomes fear.
1 Thessalonians 2:8 Love dares to be Vulnerable.
Psalm 5:1-3 Love Expects miracles.
