Join the Adventure, part 2: Working Together - Outline

Part two of this three part series is focused on Christians working together. Maybe you realize that you have joined this faithful adventure, but did you know that you signed up for a war?

Revelation 12:7-12
- You don’t join the Armed Forces just to have college paid for - you need to be prepared for war!
- The spiritual battle is a war that we are in whether we know it or not
- Satan tricks us to think that we are not really in a war
- Some of us have joined the “adventure”, don’t realize we’ve joined the war

1 Peter 5:8-9
- God has a plan for our lives
- The Christian adventure is to rescue other people
- Satan wants to lull us to sleep
- God’s purpose keeps us awake

Luke 9:23-26
- Have you lost your life on Earth?
- Have you ever been ashamed of Jesus?

Mark 8:38
- Anyone ashamed of Jesus, he will be ashamed of us when He comes
- What are we ashamed of?

Philippians 1:20-26
- We are called to Christ with the expectation to obey Him
- People are uncomfortable when we live our life without shame
- What pacifies us on Earth from wanting to be with God?
- Paul wanted to remain on Earth for fruitful labor
- Satan whispers lies in our ears that we are not needed
- We are all needed in the body whether we have an official leadership title or not

2 Timothy 2:22
- Seek God with those who call on Him with a pure heart
- Church is a group of people coming together with a common purpose
- Satan robs us of the purpose that we have come together

Ephesians 4:11-13
- We have to believe there is a reason to work together in order to work together
- We need leadership to work together
- The lie is that we don’t need leaders
- Leaders prepare those who are not leaders - they prepare us to work for the church to be built up
- Christ is the head/leader of the body
- The head needs to tell the body what to do (just like our physical body)
- UNITY means not just a loving attitude or religious feeling
- UNITY is a truth and common understanding of God’s son
- FAITH is not just belief
- FAITH is Christians’ common conviction of Christ and doctrine concerning Christ
- Without leadership the church will drift
- One word for leadership is responsibility

Romans 14:1
- What is disputable and what is indisputable?
- Opinions are disputable
- A strong Christian is tempted to look down on a weak Christian for what they’re not doing
- A weak Christian judges the strong Christian for what they are doing
(Romans 14:2-4)

1 Corinthians 10:23-26
- Everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial
- Disputable matters: movies, music, time for church to start, finances, baby-sitters, phone ringers
- Indisputable matters: attending church is a must!!

1 Corinthians 6:12-20
- Parallel scripture to 1 Corinthians 10:23 - Is this our heart?
- This needs to be our heart if we are going to work together

1 Corinthians 5:9-13
- People misunderstand and think we are not to associate with people of the world
- If this were the case, we would have to leave this world!
- We need NOT associate with those who call themself a “brother” and are immoral

Hebrews 13:7
- Remember those who shared with us and saved us from this lost world

Hebrews 13:17
- Jesus called leaders - we must submit and obey to them
- Leaders must give an account

1 Corinthians 3:6-9
- We are called to come together and to work together

John 17:20-23
- We are working together to let the world know of Jesus
- What would Jesus do if he walked in our shoes?
- Jesus isn’t here to walk in our shoes because he died for us!
- We are here to come together and work together!!
