Women’s Day 2010: One God - Outline

Born in Havana, Cuba, Elena’s father had the “privilege” of knowing Fidel Castro. They attended a boys high school together, but didn’t see eye to eye, especially about God. Castro was an atheist and when he got into power Elena’s father knew that they must leave the country. The whole family came to the US. Today Elena is grateful for these events because she has come to know the one true God.

Mark 12:28-31 – The theme scripture for our event is this command to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love our neighbor as ourself. But how do we do it?

When was the last time I wept over something Jesus would weep for?

Hebrews 4:14
Jesus was able to weep because he was humble and had so much empathy. We need to be more patient and loving with each other.

I Peter 5: 5-6
God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

At only around 15 years old, Mary made a decision to be humble before God. Her decision impacted the rest of her life. We can make decisions when we are young that are right and true.

Commit this year as a year to learn from Jesus!

Women’s Workshop: The Old Has Gone, The New Has Come – Outline

2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
As we start 2010, it is a good time to consider: where are you at with the old being gone (and staying gone) and the new being new? We know it is refreshing to get rid of the old, like spring cleaning, or cleaning out the closets, or the kid’s bedroom. And so is bringing in the new, a new pair of shoes can feel like it boosts your whole wardrobe. But let’s think spiritually: Who were you in 2009? What old needs to be gotten rid of? Who will you be in 2010? What new needs to come in?
