Peace on Whom His Favor Rests – Outline
As Christmas weekend begins Chicago’s own Mike Underhill preaches about the true meaning of Christmas and how it relates to us.

Point #1-Peace on Earth

Luke 2:14
- We will be studying the birth of Christ and how this relates to us.

Luke 2:1-7
- The birth of the Messiah.
- The angel of God tells Mary of the son she would come to have.
- Could you imagine what Josepth and Mary felt as they were going to Bethlehem, the city where David ruled?
- When’s the last time that you went to Bethlehem?
- When’s the last time you went to any famous city? How did it feel?
- Mary and Jospeth went into town and discovered that the town’s inn was full, so they went into a nearby cave where Jesus was born.
- God had a different plan than Mary and Joseph had.

Proverbs 16:9
- A lot of times we have plans, but God can have different plans.
- We tend to get bitter with God when our plans don’t work out.
- Sometimes we think we were chosen out of the world by God because we’re “hot stuff”.
- We have different directors in our lives (Sin).
- Jesus wants to be our new director over our old directors.
- Is Jesus your director?
- Where are you with your sharing? Have you lost your fire? Have you gotten distracted?
- Are you still where you were when you were first baptized?
- We can have a heart of stubbornness to listen to others.
- When you are stubborn to get open about your impurity.
- Impurity destroys marriages. Get open about it!

Point #2-The Humbled Heart

Luke 2:8-15
- Angels praised Jesus birth as an historic event while men had no idea of its happening.
- God loves the humble.

Isaiah 57:15
- God is with the humbled.
- Those who are humbled serve God more than men. They care more about what God thinks than about what men thinks.
- Those who are humbled:
1. Get open with sin.
2. Seek Advice
- We would rather not be opened about our sin out of being embarrassed.
- Be opened about your sin!

Hebrews 12:14
- Without holiness you won’t see God.
- How holy will you be this weekend?

1 Timothy 1:15
- Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
- Do you want to save sinners? Is Jesus’ heart your heart?
Acts 2:44-47
- If you want the church to be great, you need to be willing to sacrifice to see it happen.
