Good News from India
April 12, 2010 2:40 pmRaja and Debs, who lead the church in India, will be visiting the Chicago church in May 2010. Please enjoy the following good news from their ministry and consider donating to our world missions collection April 25th, which will support the church in India.
Thomas, a disciple from our sister church in India, had decided to go on a fast and it was the second day of his fasting, which was a Saturday. He took another brother, Johnson, along with him to evangelize. They decided not to go to the usual place but to go to a park nearby. As they entered the park, they saw a guy jogging. They stopped him and invited him to the church. He said ”I’m perfect, I’m from the RSS and I’m not interested,” and he continued to jog. The RSS is a Hindu organization, which is strongly against Christianity and conversions.
They went further inside and Johnson noticed a person sitting on a bench. They invited him and shared their faith. They also shared how they were sinful in the past and how God had changed their lives. This person’s name was Rajesh. Rajesh had just completed his engineering degree and was doing his Industrial Automation Course. He was interested to know about God when all of a sudden, they saw the same RSS person approaching them, along with four other people. When Thomas saw them coming, he was scared and thought they were going to get beaten up by these people. They inquired of Rajesh what the conversation was about. Rajesh told them that it was just a regular, normal talk. Then they asked Thomas and Johnson, what were they talking about. They told them that they were inviting Rajesh to church. On hearing this they started shouting and warning the brothers not to invite anybody inside the park. Immediately Rajesh told Thomas, ”Come, let us go out to discuss more.”
So they went out of the park and started talking. Rajesh wanted to know which denomination they belonged to because there are so many churches. They shared about their life style as a Christian and how they now live life 100% committed to God. They also told him that when they met the RSS person, they could have given up inviting people inside the park and gone somewhere else to invite. This made Rajesh think.
The next day, Rajesh came to church. Bible studies were done with him and in two weeks he got baptized into Christ.

The brothers encourage Rajesh before his baptism.

Thomas, Rajesh (centre) and Priyan rejoice after the baptism.
That Saturday, when the brothers had met Rajesh, it was the first time ever they had gone to the park. Amazingly it was also the first time Rajesh had come to the park. Rajesh was into smoking, drinking and sexual sins. He came and sat down thinking about what was going to happen to his future! Our God was at work and his life changed.
Later, when Thomas asked Rajesh whether he saw any difference in them , Rajesh told them that the invitation card impressed him as it had no pastor’s name on it. Rather he was pleasantly surprised that it had Jesus name printed on it.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY.
