Forgiveness – Outline

What can become real for you today about the cross? We need to deal with forgiveness on a daily basis. If you don’t forgive, you will be anxious. Let go of the hurt. Don’t dwell on the injustice against you. Are you at peace with your close relationships? People can hurt you, yet as disciples, we need to learn to forgive. Does God have to bring you to your knees to get you to forgive?

Matthew 26:36 Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
- Jesus confided in his friends. Jesus feels what we feel. God is not a great big punching bag in the sky. God knows what it’s like to be betrayed. He forgives, despite the pain.

Matthew 26:33 Jesus predicts Peter’s betrayal. Put yourself in other people’s shoes. Jesus’ response after praying is “Let’s move on.”
- Jesus’ love is not conditional on how he is treated.

Matthew 27:46 Jesus felt forsaken when he took on sins of the world. We must forgive.
- Prideful if you expect to be forgiven, but you don’t forgive.

Luke 23:34 Forgive others–they don’t know the damage they are doing.

Matthew 18:21 Forgive a lot. Otherwise you’ll get bitter.

One Response to “Forgiveness”

This is a very encouraging message. It is the truth in the essence of spiritual reality. It is all about sacrifice! Sacrificing our feelings and emotions to be at peace with someone. As Jesus did, he forgave percecuters for they not understand of what they did. As Jesus forgave, we should all forgive and humble ourselves.
