Spiritual Warfare – Outline

What does it mean to be spiritually ready for the battles of life. Your eternal destiny is at stake. How do you feel if someone tells you that you will not make it spiritually? Are you confident of your salvation? Willing to fight for it?

Revelation 12:7-11. War in heaven. Don’t love your life. Satan’s whole objective is to lead you astray. Stay focused on your relationship with Jesus and your testimony. Want to be a real man? Be a disciple of Jesus.

1) Your Enemy Is the Devil
1 Peter 5:8 Ask God to help you overcome unbelief. Be self-controlled and alert… Take this seriously. Going to hell is way worse than taking a bullet. Seeking first the kingdom keeps you from being weak. Devil is compared to a lion: prowling, no mercy.

Psalm 116:3 Be aware of the dangers of evil.

Mark 5:1-20 Legion.
- Demons have supernatural power. When you die, your eternity is fixed. Don’t take your salvation for granted.
- Sin is like Legion cutting himself with stones.
- Beware of polite pride. It’s evil. Don’t have a pride attack.
- When man surrendered to Jesus, he’s healed.

Job 18:10-21
- You’re saved by grace, yet you must stay self-controlled and alert.
- Don’t know God? You’ll be marched off to hell and the king of terrors, against your will.
- Heightening your awareness of the horrors of not repenting.

2) Prepare for Battle
Mark 9:43-49
“If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out…”
- You will be the only one to blame if you are in hell. That’s why you need to love God.

Ephesians 6:10-24
- Put on Full Armor of God
- If you are afraid to do something God, you have to do it.
- God’s power is mighty.
- Our struggle is against evil forces.
- When going to war, soldier put on all their gear. Not casual about preparation–urgent.
- v16 “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”
- Shield of faith–faith protects you from Satan.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6
“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ…”
- How obedient are you to God’s word?
- Is your attitude about church, “Why do I have to go?” or “Wow, I get to be here.”
- Are you excited to worship God?

4) Follow the Greatest Warrior
- Jesus is the greatest warrior. Endured abuse when he could have destroyed his enemies. He died for every one of us.

Revelation 1:12-18 Vision of Jesus
“…Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades…”
- The mighty warrior says to not be afraid. He rescues the faithful.
