I Am With You – Outline
Matthew 1:22 Jesus is “God with Us.”
- God sent prophet after prophet, but that wasn’t enough. Then he sent Jesus.
John 1:10-13 God is with us, yet the relationship is conditional. He sent his son to die for you. Are you with God? God can’t be with you if you are not with him.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven.
- Jesus is with us conditionally. Must believe and obey.
- Jesus doesn’t know those who don’t walk with him. Just because you think you have a relationship with God, doesn’t mean you have a relationship with God.
Exodus 3:1-10 Moses and the Burning Bush
- The bush wasn’t consumed.
- God hears the misery of his people. God knows what we need. God is concerned and wants to do something about it. He calls you to do something about it with him.
Point 1) Take God’s call seriously. It’s personal.
Exodus 3:11 Moses doesn’t think he should go. Either you don’t see the misery, don’t care, or don’t believe that God is calling you.
Exodus 4:10, 13 Moses doubts. Didn’t want to go at first. But he did go.
Exodus 33:7-11 Tent of Meeting
- People paid attention with respect when God was with their leader.
- We don’t see the cloud today, but we need to see the cloud. Don’t just go through the motions.
Point 2) Don’t take God’s presence for granted
Exodus 4:12-15 Moses wants to know God. “If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.
- If God is with you, don’t wait.
Numbers 27:12 The end of Moses’ life.
- One person’s sin doesn’t give another a right to sin.
- God will forgive when we repent, but sin still has consequences.
Point 3) Don’t take God’s discipline lightly
- Moses isn’t defensive about not being able to go in promised land. He trusted the Lord’s discipline. Be grateful for God’s discipline.
Colossians 3:5-10
- Put sin to death. Wrath of God is coming because of sin. Put on new self.
- Study that list of sins.
Genesis 6 The Flood
- If you’ve heard the call but have drifted, repent now.
Galatians 6:7
- Reap what you sow (sinfulness or spiritual)
- Persecution and grumbling will come. But don’t give up.
- Challenge: Invest all you’ve got into God’s kingdom (time, love, money), because we are involved in spiritual warfare.

One Response to “I Am With You”
Dear Chris,
I listened to your message today when I had my church service by myself. Well, I really wasn’t by myself because all of you and God was with me in spirit. God’s message, through you, was inspiring, encouraging and true. We are in a spiritual battle each day and we do need to walk and talk with God each day and throughout the day. We need to be strong and continue getting stronger because the battle is getting more powerful. I know I’m with God but I do miss having Disciples in my everyday life, to encourage me and disciple me. I pray that Sacramento will have another church soon. I know God sees my misery and I know He will answer my prayers. In the meantime, I am so greatful for the internet, to listen to the sermons, the quite times David has sent me and the conversations I have had with your mother-in law. I am looking forward to the jublee in August!!!!
Keep up the Lord’s work, you are very good at it, and take care of your voice. We need you.
Sandy Russell,
PS If you know of any sisters that would like to chat, please give them my phone # David has it.
God be with all of you and you with Him!!!
