The Transformed Life – Outline
Our world is in constant state of change
- Seasons/fall & leaves changing/hurricanes/etc.
- Our lives/getting older/kids growing up/fashions in clothes and etc.
- Society trying to change lives.

People hate the way they are
*the way they look

Spend a lot of money in weight clinics, treadmills, videos, plastic surgery, wrinkle cream.

*The way they act

Overeating, depression, shopaholic, etc

God wants to transform our life but we need to do it his way.

Luke 19:1 Zacchues transformed /looking for change (climbed a tree)

Jesus touched his life and he transformed.

Issue of salvation-today salvation has come to this house

God wants to transform us too… How?

1) Jesus reaches out to us

Use personal examples of people you have seen radically change because of gospel

Use our example of radical transformation

Luke 4:14 praised him

Luke 4:22 spoke well of him/ Is this Joseph son? He is different/ not like we remember him

:28 now furious! People see change in others and that’s O.K. but don’t call us to change. Our changes inspire people or scare them. Divide people but not stop Jesus from touching and transforming lives.

:36 Drive out demons

:38 Peters mother in law

:40 all who were sick

5:2 touched a leper. Jesus took risks-are we willing to take risks to transform lives (share example). They hated him for it.

:17 heals a paralytic

:20 Start to Q. Jesus even though just did amazing miracle

:27 Levi transformed (tax collector) trying to transform others and they are not happy but critical

Jesus: not healthy who need to change but sinners to repentance (change)

:6 reason to accuse Jesus/ not help me learn

Q. Why did Jesus have him stand up? Powerfull visual aid of transformation! Not a fluke. I am here to transform lives. Cannot deny. Not about law but about love.

They were furious.

6: 17 Healing all – doesn’t show favoritism.

Now Jesus got their attention. Now let’s transform your hearts.

:20 blessed are poor-humility

:24 materialism

:27 loving and forgiving

:30 being a giver

:37 judging others/critical

:39 pride

Jesus wants to transform our lives but there is a cost.

2) The Cost

*Health care costs- everyone wants healing but don’t want to pay for it.

* people want easy way –just give me a pill or a shot but not life lifestyle change. Need to quit
-smoking -exercise -drinking
-overeating -more sleep

People come to church and love it! Give me the hugging , the kissing(Roger) ,the loving but don’t ask me to change!

Luke 9:21 there is a cost.

* Jesus to be killed

*Must deny self, take up cross, give up life (Luke 14:25-33)

How much happiness, salvation, relationship with Jesus worth?

3) Jesus continues to change our Lives
For disciples-continue to transform
-are different than you were a year ago?
Q. How walk with creator and not change?
*that’s for new disciples-wrong!
*got what I want now I just want a break
*tired of battle/don’t want to suffer
Romans 12:1
*inward- transformed by renewing mind
*1Cor2:16 we have the mind of Christ
*Q.T. how transform
* Battle won or lost in mind.
2 Cor 3:17
*Transformed with ever increasing glory
*contemplate or “reflect” the Lord’s glory
Q. Are you free?
Your first concern is who or what is to blame for this misfortune How can we transform lives if minds are dull? Heart dull?

Society needs change badly
*Girl abducted and found dead in landfill
*kid shot in back of head last week
*kid beat to death by classmates
*Couple shot in car
Let’s work with Jesus and transform some loves
