Mark Series part 23, Proclaim God’s Standard to the Nations – Outline
We have the perfect standard of how to live (God’s standard), but do we know it?
Mark 12:18-27 Marriage at the Resurrection
- The people asking weren’t sincere in their question. They didn’t even believe in resurrection.
- We say and do foolish things because we don’t understand scripture or power of God.
Proverbs 3:3-5
- Don’t lean on your own understanding. Trust God.
- Don’t just live how you want to live.
Psalm 119:1-8
- Proclaim God’s ways. They are great–not our ways.
- God’s standard is what all will be measured by.
Psalm 119:9
- The world is not focused on purity. Have God’s standard of purity.
Psalm 119:53
- Learn from God
Psalm 119:89
- God’s standard is eternal
Psalm 119:105
- You’ll keep stumbling if not on path of God’s standard.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
- The word of God is not like a menu where you just pick what you want. Use and apply whole thing to your life.
- If our city is full of churches, why is there so much violence? It’s because people don’t use the whole Bible.
- Some don’t use Bible because they don’t want to change.
2 Thessalonians 2:10
- Why false teachers perish: refuse to love truth
Hebrews 1:1-3
- God’s word is powerful
Matthew 5:17-20 Fulfillment of the Law
- Practice and teach Jesus’ commands
- Righteousness must surpass religious teachers. Do right by God’s standards, or no heaven.
- Live it out.
Matthew 5:21-25
- Do not murder. Do not be angry with your brother, or you’ll get judgment. That’s the standard.
- Standard is love.
- Settle disputes quickly.
Matthew 5:27-30 Adultery
- God’s standard of purity: Lust is adultery. Radical oppose these behaviors in your life.
- Don’t be looking at people to see if they’re “cute.”
Ephesians 5:3-12
- Not even a hint of impurity. That’s God’s standard.
- God is clear on what is sin. Warnings are clear. Live as children of light.
- (vs. 10) Find out what pleases the Lord.
God’s standard of forgiveness. When you get hurt, don’t get bitter and be unforgiving. What if Jesus were that way with us? But that’s not our God’s standard of forgiveness. Our sins murdered Jesus on the crosss. Jesus’ standard of forgiveness is so incredible, and it can save you! Proclaim God’s standard to the nations.
