What Will You Do With Your Freedom? – Outline
We gather to celebrate Independence Day and our freedom. In light of that victory, what will you do with your freedom?
Jude 1:20
- Be focused on snatching people from the fires of evil. Do you share your faith within your free time?
- Are you grateful for the spiritual relationships in your life? Have a mission team mindset.
Genesis 1
- Man and woman are created. Then they broke God’s rules–wanted freedom. People want freedom.
Ephesians 6
- Obey your parents so it goes well with you and have long life. But rules are for your protection.
- You are free, but there are consequences of breaking rules within that freedom.
- Imagine a world without death. But that’s the consequence of sin.
Genesis 4:1
- Cain and Abel born. Abel kept flocks, Cain kept the soil.
- You decide what you work at, and what you give back to God. Abel gave God fat portions.
- Every disciple needs to have a full time heart for God. Give God your best.
- Cain just gave some of crops. He became angry at his brother. Cain was sad too.
- You have to be totally committed to God.
- God disciples Cain.
Genesis 4:6
- God ask Cain, “Why are you angry?”
Genesis 4:7 “If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.”
- Then Cain murders and lies about it. We lie because we want to look good. You’ll never be your best until you’re willing to admit your worst.
- That’s the extent God’s discipling time with Cain.
Psalm 51
- Desire truth in your inmost parts. Be truthful. Will you be truthful and pure with your freedom?
Genesis 4:7
- Is sin crouching at your door? Is there envy and jealousy in your life? Are you respectful of all? God gives Cain a choice to choose good or evil.
Psalm 36:1-2 Fear God.
Matthew 3:8 Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.
- See your sin, hate your sin, confess it all and repent.
- Start your discipling times with “My worst thought was [fill in the blank].
John 2:13-17
- Jesus at Jerusalem, drives money changers out of temple.
- Have zeal to oppose sin in your life and others.
- Are you consumed with zeal for your house or for God’s house?
- Jesus used his freedom to die for us–to lay down his life.
1 Corinthians 9
- You’re free but what will you do with the freedom that Jesus bought for you with his own life?
