The Man Who Was A Fool – Outline
Satan has blinded the minds of unbelievers. Many substitute intelligence for integrity. Despite this, disciples need to develop the strength to love more. God loves us that way. Do you have the strength to love people who are not yet interested in God?
Matthew 24:9-13
- False prophets say you don’t need to call out sin. Because of the increase in wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. He who stands firm to the end [in love] will be saved.
- Love and sacrifice for the lost is the root of missions.
Luke 12:13-21
- The rich fool who stored away crops. Jesus called him a fool because he misused his wealth.
1) Rich fool lost his life in his livelihood. There is nothing more noble than helping someone become a Christian and helping them stay in Christ. A job is important, but it can’t satisfy you. What is your purpose? God wants you to be taken care of and take care of others.
Matthew 6:33
- Seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness–not seek third God’s kingdom.
- Are you losing your life in your career?
Proverbs 30:7-8
- Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.
- Are you simply working for stress and heartache? God wants us to show people hope in Jesus.
2) The rich fool… (from Luke 12) his ego overlooked his need for others. He says “I” and “my” twelve times. Do you realize that your life rests on the sacrifices of others?
1 Corinthians 12:12-21
- We are eternally in debt without Jesus. Do not be independent. We need each other.
- Be grateful for the people in your life that are helping you get to heaven. Do you have people in your life?
Hebrews 3:12-14
- Encourage daily, or you’ll be hardened by sins deceitfulness.
- Do you thank those who invest time in you. – The rich man was a fool because he worshipped the created, rather than the creator.
Isaiah 2:6-9
- Don’t let talent and pride blind you to your need for God. Do not be focused and distracted (X-Box, HD TV, etc.) by the material wealth of this world.
Romans 1:18
- Foolish hearts are darkened because people don’t want to know God. How is your prayer life? Focus on God, not his creations.
Luke 9:25
- What good is it to gain the whole world yet lose your very soul?
- Don’t be a fool. Give your life to God.
