Parenting Class – Building the Character of Jesus in your Kids – Outline

Deuteronomy 6:4
Love the Lord your God with all your heart…
- Make sure you have a great relationhip with God. Let your kids see it.
- Children know the difference between being a disciple and being religious. Kids can spot hypocrisy.
- Impress God’s ways onto your children. Pray that they love God. If they love God, then they will want to be disciples.

Matthew 21:12 My house will be like the house of prayer.
- Importance of praying with your children every day
- Regardless of what is going on or who is in your home, pray at bedtime with your kids. If guests are over, have them join you.
- God calls us to respect him. Teach children to respect God and others. No exceptions.
- The battle is not between you and your kids. This is a spiritual battle to teach your kids about who God is.

Three Important Characteristics to Teach your Kids

1. Humility
2. Openness
C. Honesty

Matthew 5:1 Blessed are the poor in spirit. They will inherit the kingdom of heaven.
- Apologize for mistakes you make.
- Don’t be afraid to seek many spiritual advisors on parenting.
- Set a great example of faith, humility, openness and honesty for your children.
