Useful to the Master – Outline

    1. Introduction
    1. God has always desired to use men to change the world!
      1. Noah – God used Noah to build a mighty ark helping to restore the Earth.
      2. Abraham – God used his example as a precedent for all those who would believe.
      3. Moses – God used him to lead his people out of slavery.
      4. David – God used him to lead the armies of God.
      5. Jesus – God used him as a catalyst for eternity. God used him to start the most influential movement ever!

*2 Timothy 2:20-21

    1. Often we don’t feel like God is using us. Most college students give their best efforts to:
      1. Corporations
      2. Political Campaigns
      3. Universities

NO ONE HAS EVER HAD THE KIND OF WORLD-CHANGING IMPACT JESUS HAD AND STILL HAS!!!!

*Numbers 31:1-12

    1. Zealous for the Master
    1. God’s Intrests
      1. God is zealous for you
        1. V2 God avenges his people, he protects us, we don’t avenge ourselves
        2. They did it to avenge God, we ought to care about him equally
      2. Your Intrests
        1. Your interests should be
          God’s=Useful to the Master, ie. Righteousness, purity, saving souls, encouragement
        2. SHARE: EMPLOYEE ANALOGY
    1. Zealous in Everything
      1. Interestingly, Phineas is leading the army of God, why?
        1. Priest had never been general before
        2. Phineas was not even the high priest
        3. Joshua was more than able to do it

*Numbers 25:1-11

      1. Zealous in the little things
        1. God pleased because he felt the same way God himself felt
        2. SHARE: LEDGER’S PREP FOR JOKER IN DARK KNIGHT
        3. Does this level of zeal challenge you? ie. Singing, fellowship
    1. Purity Because of the Master
    1. Boldness of Evil
      1. Zimri was commiting a sin right in front of everyone while they wept over sin
      2. From his actions we can see:
        1. No Fear of God
        2. Thought himself too great to be punished
        3. Did not care about his brothers
      3. Evil is more daring these days

    1. The Courage to Purify
      1. The Courage to be Alone
        1. Moses gave the command to everyone but Phineas was the only one who stepped up.
        2. Real leaders act on their convictions
      2. The Courage to be Personally Righteous
        1. Attack Character Sins
        2. “Cleansing yourself from ignoble” (2 Tim 2:20)
        3. SHARE: MY OWN SELF RELIANCE
    1. Commitment to the Master

*Numbers 31:13-18

    1. Moses was totally committed even after the initial victory
      1. Commitment to God’s Plan, not yours

*Proverbs 16:3

      1. Commitment to Each Other
        (Because the Master has put them into your life)
      2. Commitment to Defending the Truth

*2 Corinthians 10:1-5

        1. Explanation of Demonic Strongholds
          1. Behind every sin is a lie Satan uses to harass us. Ie. Sex/drugs fulfill, everyone leaves me,etc
          2. SHARE: MY OWN INSECURITY GROWING UP
        2. We have divine weapons against these strongholds
          1. The Truth
          2. Powers of Persuasion
          3. Humility (One who does not press for his rights)
        3. Total Commitment to Spiritual Warfare
          1. Demolish that which sets itself up against the knowledge of God
          2. Take captive every though, reason, faculty or claim
          3. Make obedient every person
    1. Conclusion
    1. Do you want to be Useful to the Master?
      1. Be Zealous for the Master
      2. Have Purity Because of the Master
      3. Give Total Commitment to the Master
