The Power of God to Change Lives, part 2 - Outline
If you missed part 1, click here.
The power is from God. It comes through His Spirit, His Word and His servants, the disciples.
Acts 26:15-29
One of the greatest changed lives in the Bible is the Apostle Paul. God called him and sent him to help all the world know Jesus.
1. Help HIM Help Them Learn!
- Open peoples eyes: they don’t know there is another way than the world does it.
- We go to school for years to learn a trade and yet enter into a dating relationship / marriage and try to do it alone, without any teaching or training.
- Having a relationship outside of Jesus is so difficult. God wants us to have the teaching and training we need to be successful in life.
- how do we do that?
- Show people the right way by trying to be an example.
- Be open and vulnerable with our mistakes, so others won’t feel they are the only ones who make mistakes.
- We have to get out there and make a connection with people.
- Fishing for men requires going out where the fish are and throwing our lines in the water.
- Some will get baptized and some will want to kill you.
- If you never get persecuted, something is wrong. 2 Timothy says “everyone who wants to live a Godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
- If we are not being bold, we will never get persecuted and we will never seek and save the lost.
- Paul didn’t do what God asked him to do in a corner.
2. Help HIM Help Them Turn!
- From dark to light:
- From the power of Satan to the power of God.
- From Pride to Humility.
- From Hate to Love. (How are our marriages and parenting or roommate relationships?)
- From building my house to building God’s house.
- From people pleaser to God pleaser.
- From bitter to better.
- After we have done what we know is wrong before God, what we know is under the power of Satan, how do you feel afterward? We feel horrible and guilty.
- How do you feel when you do what you know is right before God and submit to the power of God? You feel great!
- We can’t help them turn until we turn!
- Help them to receive forgiveness of sins:
- Just like you’ve just been baptized!
Weightless by Jaci Velasquez:
(Chorus) I am weightless
The burden is gone
I am weightless, oh, I am weightless
Your mercy has come
I am weightless, yeah
I’m walkin’ on air
The world lifted off my shoulders
Without a care
Now, that the clouds are over
In this atmosphere
I can breath again
(Chorus)
My conscience burns
Time for a new confession
My heart returns
Let’s hope I learned my lesson
And all concerns
Simply float away
(Chorus)
Lifted from the ashes
Sprinkled with Your blood
The sea of tears
My shame has made
I’m soaring high above
Yes, I am overcome by Your love
- From concealing our sin to confessing our sins! We must confess our sins to one another.
- That is the forgiveness that is available today for all of us!
- Small and great alike need to learn and to turn to God.
- Short or long, all need to become Christians.
- The battle between the power of Satan and the power of God.
- The battle begins after service in the fellowship. Get open and get help.
