Marriage & Dating in the Church - Outline
Don’t learn from the world about how to have a great marriage and how to date. Go to the scriptures and to other disciples to get regular input on Christian dating and having a godly marriage.
2 Timothy 2:22
- Flee the evil desires of youth. But encourage one another. Get to know and understand each other. Be open to learning how to love God’s way. Make Jesus Lord of your relationships. Is your character causing another to become more or less like Jesus. You are leading them somewhere. Love is suffering and sacrificing for someone else.
1 Peter 3:1-6
- Being fearful is not being faithful. Sarah wasn’t always faithful but in Hebrews she was commended as a hero in the faith. Women fear being alone. But then in a relationship they fear being led. When you give way to fear, you cannot be righteous. Tackle your fears.
- Humility is needed for great relationships. If you want relationship to change, you need to change. Change your relationship with God and God will work through that.
1 Timothy 4:7-12
- Put trust in God
- Set an example with your life. Love produces love. In a godly relationship, serve, sacrifice, give, love and then you will have a great relationship.
