The Cross: A Life of Impact - Outline

Do you know what happened at the cross? Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? If Jesus never came, what religion would you be? How different would our country be? How different would you be without Jesus? You need to realize the powerful impact of the cross not just in your life, but also our culture.

1 Corinthians 15:17-20
If there is no resurrection, what is life all about? Then you are still in your sin.

Romans 1:8-9
“First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world. God, whom I serve with my whole heart in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you”

- Faith can have a worldwide impact. Does yours? It’s because of the cross that faith spreads around the world.
- Serve God with your whole heart. Paul did so. But what are you passionate about? Is it greater than your interest in the cross?

Romans 1:14
- Paul is obligated to preach. Do you feel obligated because of the cross?

Romans 1:16
- Not ashamed of the gospel. Live a righteous life by faith. Do what is right in God’s eyes.

The Bad Impact
Romans 1:18-24
The wrath of God comes because people are suppressing the truth. If you had the answer for cancer, would you tell everyone, or would you suppress the truth? That saddens God. It’s rebellion. People start to worship created things; that’s idolatry. What are you giving your years to. If you live like this, God gives you over to impurity.

Romans 2:5
God will give to each person according to what he has done. You have two possible directions to go in:
1) Live by righteousness and receive freedom from guilt
2) Pain for those who reject God

Romans 8:31-39
Cross needs to be your motivation. With God, you are not alone, you are more than a conqueror. If you give your best, God is proud of you.
