Back to the Future

Our study series on the book of Daniel continues with part two.

Daniel 4:1-3

POINT 1 - LEARN FROM THE PAST, BUT DON’T GET STUCK IN IT

Lesson from the past - God wants everything 100%

Matthew 22 - Love God with all your heart

James 4:4 adulterous=friendship with world
You can’t serve God and put ANYTHING above Him

Luke 14:33 Give up everything or you’re not a disciple

Mark 10:17 Rich Young Ruler
Jesus let him way away sad
compromise=sin pours in
you start drifting from God @ 99%
you start to flirt with the world and it infects your heart

Daniel 4:4-17
v. 17 is the theme for the book of Daniel

Revelation 3 - the Laodicea church thought they were fine because they were rich
Daniel interpreting Neb’s dream was a hard message to deliver
to love is to obey His commands

2 Timothy 2:14-15; 23-26
resentful - can’t tell from across a gorge
Leadership = kind and able to teach (soft on person; hard on teaching)

Steps to resolving conflict:

1 - see where you messed up (get plank out)
2 - go to person and apologize with no “buts”
3 - wait a few days to see if you see things differently
4 - if anything is still left, go back to them with the sin

Why are you stuck in the past? Pride, etc

Daniel 4:20-27

POINT 2 - LOOK TO THE FUTURE AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT TODAY!

Daniel 4:28-33 Neb’s dream is fulfilled
Luke 13:1-5 no faith = no miracles
Matthew 12:36 we must account for every word spoken
Hebrew 4:12-13 Bible is living and active and sharper than a double-edged sword

The Bible tells the future - EVERYTHING IS LAID BARE
The Bible cuts to the heart
You have to be willing to open the Bible and let it cut

Daniel 4:34 Neb came to his senses

What is keeping us stuck from knowing what we need to do?
What is keeping us stuck from being ready for when Jesus come back?
Are we dull?
