Success For The New Year - Outline
Get back to the basics of Christianity to have success for the new year. Hold onto the fundamentals of the faith or you will fall.
Philippians 1:1-2
- Remember the grace and peace of God. It’s a gift. We didn’t earn it.
- Peace comes from a saving relationship with God. Peace is the byproduct, not the goal.
Philippians 1:4
- Be prayerful.
Philippians 4:4-7
- Be rejoicing.
- Peace is a byproduct of prayer. If you are worried or anxious, you need to pray.
Philippians 1:3-6
- Success is to have an attitude of thanksgiving and gratitude. How can you please God if you are ungrateful?
Next time you are being bitter, complaining, moody, angry or grumbling, ask yourself, “Am I being grateful?” This also affects the people around you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
- Be joyful always. How do you do that? Pray and be grateful. In tough times, God can refine you. Have faith that God is moving. God’s will for you to be thankful in all circumstances.
Philippians 1:4
- Prayer is crucial. How deep have your prayers been? If we’re going to be successful this year, it’s going to take a lot of prayer. Don’t just pray when you are in trouble. God is with disciples all day. It’s not like going to work and seeing your family later on. Remind yourself throughout the day, “God is with me.”
- Prayer is your lifeline to God
- Pray ACTS:
Adoration
Confession
Thanksgiving
Supplication (Help me to…)
Mark 11:20-25 Withered Fig Tree
- Have faith that what you pray for will happen.
- Be forgiving.
Philippians 1:4-8
- Invest in your relationships with one another. Serve each other. Who do you have in your heart? Have the affection of Christ Jesus. Do people around you feel that? We are partners in the gospel. - Invest in relationships with the lost so they can be saved.
Philippians 1:9-11
- Love God’s word. Gain knowledge and depth of insight from the Bible. Understanding and applying God’s word is how you discern what is best (v. 10). Are you digging into the Bible and loving it (Psalm 119)? Love the word of God.
Apply these basic fundamentals of the faith, and you will be successful in the new year.
