Live! – Outline

This sermon answers the question, “What do we need to live by?”

1 Peter 2:9-10 Chosen People
- God wants to remind you of what God has brought the Christians out of: you have been rescued (mercy). If you do not appreciate this scripture, you may still be in the darkness.

Theresa Broom reads the powerful conversion story of Kerri-Sue Adams from the Central New York Church of Christ. In Ezekiel 16:6 God says “Live,” not die. From Hebrews 11 we see that through faith our weaknesses become strengths.

John 8:1-11 Woman Caught in Adultery

- Religious leaders test Jesus when they are hypocrites. The Bible has quotes to live by.

1st Quote To Live By
John 8:7 “Let the one among you who has never sinned throw the first stone” (Phillips translation).

John 8:11 “…Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Ecclesiastes 7:20-21 Everyone sins.

Mark 9:14-32 Healing of a Boy with an Evil Spirit

2nd Quote To Live By
Mark 9:24 “…I do believe. Help me to overcome my unbelief.”

- We need to pray this every day.

Romans 1:18-34 Creation tells us there is a designer: God. Evolution is nonsense. Believe God.

Acts 1:3 Jesus gave proof of his resurrection and spoke about the kingdom of God. A kingdom needs rules. Hell is an eternal prison for those who disobey God and reject God’s kingdom.

Matthew 6:25-33 Do not worry. Seek first God’s kingdom.

4th Quote To Live By
“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.” – Will Rogers

Matthew 28:19-20 Go make disciples. If you know Christ, you won’t be siting in a church. You will be building the church.

James 2:14-20 Faith without deeds is dead. You will never live if you just sit around on your belief.

- How many people go to church but have no deeds? Assembly religion does not take the kind of faith to save your soul.

Ezekiel 15 Jerusalem, a Useless Vine
- Even though the people were in the right city, they had the wrong attitude.

John 15 Bear fruit. It is time to live.

The four quotes spell LIVE. Live for God.
