The LORD Has Done Great Things for Us

“When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The LORD has done great things for them. The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.’” Psalm 126:1-3
It has been an incredible couple of weeks here in Chicago. Just four months ago we had our inaugural service and started this work with 30 disciples. Since then we have seen nine people baptized, and two people restored. Just three Sundays ago, thirty-eight disciples had ninety-two in attendance at our bring your neighbor day. It was a glorious sight.
Dave Cadell, one of our new brothers, was called to active duty by the Navy. He has to report to Germany for one year. We were all sad to see Dave leave. God has used him so powerfully since his restoration. At Dave’s going away party, so many shared how grateful they were for Dave and his devotion to Christ and his church. Dave shared how he wouldn’t even be faithful if God hadn’t sent us on this mission team to Chicago. It is so reassuring to see God working through sinners like us. Dave has also been very fruitful. Jessica Junion, who was baptized one day after our first service and Christina Canija, who was baptized just two days before Dave’s goodbye party, would also not be saved if we hadn’t layed our lives down to move to Chicago. The following is an exert from Dave’s last e-mail to his Chicago family:
“Dear beloved brothers and sisters in Chicago and elsewhere!
I just have to tell you some awesome news from Gulfport, Mississippi. God’s work continues where ever disciples go. I will have my first bible talk next Wednesday night on the naval base here in Gulfport! God is encouraging me because I have had some slightly discouraging days here. I have given into fear at times rather than being faithful when it comes to sharing my faith. I have been open about these fears (and lack of faith) with disciples who are close to me and in my life. So I have decided to step out and do what I know God wants despite my fear. Just like in the Scriptures, Jesus was only able to perform miracles when there was faith. I can foresee miracles among the lost here. I am determined that the 350 medical professionals from every corner of this country (AND MANY FROM THE CHICAGO AREA!) will know the true gospel of Jesus after this year and they will either reject him or accept him, but they will be evangelized through God faithfulness and my little faith. May the grace of our God and Father and of our Lord Jesus be with you all.
Your brother in Christ,
David Cadell, soldier of Christ, fighting the good fight.”
We are very excited to be on a team of “sold-out” disciples that share God’s dream of evangelizing the world in our generation. (see Partners in the Gospel and Partners in the Gospel, Part 2)
Please continue praying for us and especially for our dear brother Dave Cadell as the spirit carries him to Germany to preach the word.
Chris Broom
