Acts, Part 3: World Missions - Outline
Acts 16:1-5 “Timothy joins Paul and Silas”
- Timothy was sold out and did WHATEVER it took to be his best for God
Acts 16:6-10 “Paul’s Vision of Macedonia”
- God is Sovereign - allows everything to happen
- Macedonia is in Europe - example of World Mission
Acts 16:11-15 “Lydia’s Conversion”
- keypoint: they went to leading city (i.e. Chicago - leader of Midwest)
- and they went to prominent people who have influence over many
Acts 16:36-40 “Paul and Silas in Prison”
- keypoint: Paul was a Roman citizen and shouldn’t have been treated this way. God used him to go all the way to Rome and preach to Caesar!
Acts 17:1-9 “In Thessalonica”
- world sees disciples as “troublemakers”
Acts 17:16-28 “In Athens”
- Idols: Paul uses common ground to share with men of Athens at Areopagus
Acts 19:8-10 “Paul in Ephesus”
- Pattern: preach daily in leading cities, raise up people, and the whole Province is affected
Acts 20:1-6 “Through Macedonia and Greece”
Paul was building a band of prophets from each city he went through
- Sopater=Berea
- Aristarchus=Thessalonica
- Gaius=Derbe
- Timothy=Lystra
- Tychicus and Trophimus=Asia
Acts 20:13-16 “Paul’s farewell”
- the relationships are what knit this all together
Acts 20:17-24
- Paul was task-oriented. You don’t put the people above the task. It’s one in the same (people and the task)
Acts 20:25-38
- last time Paul will see elders
- he calls the elders to live as he lived -warning day and night
- get open/don’t withhold and you will have these relationships in scripture
- God has given us what we need right here (invest and give freely to each other)
