First Principles 02: Seeking God - Outline

Psalm 119:1-2
Seek him with all of your heart
- You are blessed if you walk in a righteous way
- You are blessed if you live according to God’s word
- You are blessed if you seek him with all of your heart
- Blessed means happy (superlatively happy)
- Happiness is not the goal of one who seeks God but is a “by-product”
- To seek God you must do it with all your heart
- Seeking God means to “keep his statutes”

Matthew 6:25-34
Seek first his kingdom
- Do not worry - ironic - cannot add a single hour to your life
- God knows your needs
- Seek first his kingdom and righteousness
- Then God will give you everything you need

Acts 17:26-28
- Seek Him and find Him
- God determines the times and places each person lives
- He does this so men will seek him, reach out and find him
- He is not far from anyone
- A Christian meeting you is not by chance, but by God

John 4:23-24
- Seeking those who want to know him in spirit and truth
- God seeks men (Acts 17 taught men must seek God)
- Men who want to worship him in spirit and in truth
- Spirit and truth is when you truly want to seek him
- You must want to seek God for it to be the truth

Acts 17:10-12
Bereans
- Read and study the Bible for your own conviction
- Study daily

Jeremiah 29:11-14
God’s Plan not ours
- God has an individual plan for your life
- A plan to prosper you - with hope and a future
- You will find God when you seek him with all your heart

Acts 8:26-39
The Etheopian Eunuch
- The angels and the Holy Spirit are helping to get you to God
- Do not be afraid to ask questions about life or the Bible - be humble
- You need someone to explain the Bible to you
- You will be “rejoicing” when you find God

Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, Seek, Knock
- Seek and God guarantees you will find him
- Ask God for help
