Saving Faith - Outline

James 2:14
- Faith without deeds will not save you.
- Faith without deeds = useless

What kind of faith does it take to save your soul?

James 2:18
- Show faith by what you do.

Saving faith comes from personal conviction, not family tradition.

Ephesians 4:4-5
- There’s one true faith.
- Not many different kinds of faith
- Faith has to be built on what you know, not what others know.

Mark 3:20-21
- Family tries to take charge of Jesus.

Mark 3:31-35
- Do God’s will to be in God’s family.
- Still care for physical family, but have conviction about your life. That’s how your family can be saved (1 Timothy 4:16).
- When something is important to you, you don’t just take someone’s word for it. You search it out. Go after it. Do that with faith and church.
- Don’t be prideful about your traditional church like, “I’m going to church because I’ve always gone here.” Go where the truth is.

Saving faith has visible signs, it’s not just in your minds.

James 2:24
- You’re justified by what you do and not by faith alone.
- Can’t just believe you’re saved and then you’re saved. This doesn’t work in any other area (school, job).

John 14:12
- If you have faith in Jesus, you will do what he’s been doing.
- Not saved by works (Ephesians 2:8-10), but we are saved to work.
- Don’t use Romans 10 out of context.

Acts 26:20
- Prove repentance by deeds.

Matthew 7:21
- Not everyone enters heaven. Only obedient now.

James 2:36
- Faith without deeds = dead.
- A corpse

Saving faith doesn’t wait for the grave to say I’m saved.

Ecclesiastes 12:1
- Remember your creator before trouble comes.
- Urgency

Ecclesiastes 12:6
- Remember God before death. We are not promised tomorrow. Act now. Commit now.

God is ready now.
- A worldly relationship is one that makes you feel good, but you’re not ready to commit.
- Give up life for Jesus. Deny self now (Luke 9:23-25).
- When the fire is up your back, you jump. That’s hell. Avoid it now. Study the Bible now.
- Don’t wait for the grave.
